Episode Transcription

Asking for help when you have cancer can be hard.

You feel guilty for imposing.

You fear people might not help.

You feel like you owe someone.

Asking for help and support is not a sign of weakness but rather a testament to your strength and courage.

It takes courage to acknowledge when you need support and even more strength to reach out and ask for it.

Make yourself comfortable, finding a position that allows you to relax completely.

Close your eyes gently and take a deep breath in through your nose, letting it fill your lungs with calmness.

Exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing any tension you may be carrying.

With each breath, imagine you are surrounded by a warm, nurturing light.

Feel its comforting embrace wrapping around you, offering you solace and support in this moment.

As you continue to breathe deeply, bring your awareness to your heart center.

Visualize a golden thread extending from your heart, connecting you to all the love and support that surrounds you – from your friends, your family, and the caring professionals who are here to help you through this journey.

Don’t let fear keep you from asking for help and support.

We all have questions that come into our head and what ifs.

Fear during a time of need is real.

Are you holding back in asking for help or support?

Let’s explore these questions together as we continue to breathe:

What is your reason for not asking for help?

Have you had anyone offer assistance, if so, who?

Reflect on what tasks you need help with?

What ways would you feel comfortable asking for help?

Now reflect on the strength you possess within.

Despite the challenges you may face, you are resilient.

You have the power to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger than ever before.

Allow this knowledge to fill you with courage and determination.

Let’s take a moment to acknowledge any emotions that arise within you – whether it's fear, sadness, or uncertainty.

Know that it's okay to feel these emotions and that you are not alone in your struggles.

Allow yourself to lean on the support of others and to be vulnerable when you need to be.

With each breath, affirm to yourself: "I am supported. I am loved. I am not alone in this journey."

Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to the present moment.

When you feel ready, open your eyes and carry this sense of support and love with you throughout your day.

Remember, you are surrounded by a community of caring individuals who are here to uplift you and walk alongside you every step of the way.
